Raymond Kirk

Raymond Kirk’s research aims to decrease cost and increase efficiency in agri-food environments. He uses autonomous mobile robotic platforms to assist in digitising tasks such as yield estimation, fruit counting, fruit picking, maturity estimation, and quality control. Raymond aims to solve problems by gaining a deeper insight into the environments the robots operate in through intelligent vision systems. So far, Raymond has been successful in developing bio-inspired fruit detectors based on human perception, soft fruit harvesting through deep learning inference of RGB images and RGBD point clouds and fruit counting through a combination of deep learning and Bayesian logic for tracking.
